Timeless elegance: exploring the origin story of Elyx Vodka
Time is one of the most precious commodities, and valuable time is key to crafting Elyx Vodka. Its liquid silk mouthfeel is unlocked by patiently harvesting slow-growing winter wheat, before manually distilling the resulting raw spirit in a unique copper still dating back to 1921.

The inimitable result is a super-premium vodka designed to be savoured, and a drink that merits setting aside precious time to enjoy every delightful sip.
Elyx Vodka’s brand-new bottle now pays tribute to its origins. We spoke with Absolut Senior Brand Manager Clara Guillon to find out more about how every carefully chosen contour and characteristic reveals evocative details of the timeless Elyx Vodka story.
How does the value of taking time manifest itself in Elyx Vodka?
Taking the time needed to craft an exceptional product is the leitmotiv central to Elyx Vodka: quality, purity and distinction, these all take time and can’t be rushed.
The single estate winter wheat we use in the raw spirit takes twice as long to grow as regular wheat and was carefully selected for its superior quality. It takes time too for the experts who craft our vodka to achieve perfection. And time for the magic of copper to play its part in creating this drink that we like to call liquid silk.
This also feeds into the way we encourage our consumers to appreciate Elyx Vodka, to really take the time to slowly sip and savour the vodka, and to take the time to learn the story behind the craft involved – as detailed in the new bottle.
The bottle tells this story in several ways, including paying homage to Art Deco and its timeless iconography that has endured for a century. How did Art Deco inspire the new design?
Art Deco flourished in the 1920s, the same time our vintage copper column still was built – which we use to this day. It seemed natural to us that the bottle design should be an ode to the origin period of our copper sill that makes Elyx uniquely Elyx.
If you look at the bottle and its details, you’ll see this theme is present throughout, evoking Art Deco’s artistic and architectural hallmarks. The geometric shapes on the glass, the frame and ornaments on the label design, and the presence of copper, are all common in art deco.
The wheat ornament on the label is also a representation of the single estate harvest of Swedish winter wheat, the raw ingredient we use to craft Elyx Vodka. It was important for us to honour that precious raw material, and to honour the farmers in southern Sweden who harvest it.

The colour of the bottle also evokes the feeling of copper. How important is copper in the Elyx Vodka journey?
Copper is what makes us stand out from the crowd: it is present from a liquid quality perspective, present in the crafting of the drink, and present in the design. Copper is the heart of the product and the entire production process. It is simply part of our DNA.
During the production, copper packets are manually added to the raw spirit to provoke something called copper catalysation. The copper packets react with and remove any sulphur remanence, resulting in an absolutely clean and smooth sprit.
Each batch of Elyx Vodka is distilled in the vintage copper still from 1921. This refined copper distillation gives the distinct character and unique silky texture.
So as the whole world of Elyx is intertwined with copper, the bottle is also a visual representation of that. The copper colour aspect makes it stand out on a shelf and a bar, representing our craft universe and heritage.
One subtle detail is the presence of a coupe glass on the neck label. It’s not a coincidence – how does this tie together with the themes we already mentioned?
The hero serve for Elyx Vodka is the Elyx martini, and we represent that on the bottle with the coupe glass surrounded by wheat shafts, adorned on the neck label.
This is a nod not only to how Elyx is best enjoyed, but also with the coupe glass having strong links to the 1920s. At that time the US was defined by prohibition, and this glass became an iconic vessel for the era, where cocktail and martini culture really flourished in underground speakeasy environments.
The liquid is so distinctively pure and silky smooth. So we recommend Elyx Vodka to be sipped over ice or in a chilled Elyx Vodka martini, stirred with Lillet and garnished with a lemon twist. Either of those simple serves are the true way to make the vodka shine.
Finally, where do you see the new look Elyx Vodka being best enjoyed, and when will it be available?
We launched in early 2025 in multiple markets across the globe, and we hope consumers will enjoy Elyx Vodka as much as we enjoy crafting it for them. There is so much passion involved: from the farmers who harvest the winter wheat, to the distillers who manually craft the vodka using the still that has been passed from generation to generation.
To make one final return to that throughline of time, we see Elyx Vodka fitting perfectly into the occasions people take time to enjoy the most. Be that in a relaxed bar with jazz playing in the background, creating a speakeasy feel evoking the 1920s, or simply at home, sharing low tempo moments of appreciation with those close to you.
It will truly shine in occasions where we invite people to slow time down and enjoy the genuine delights of life. It’s not just where, but who you’re enjoying it with that is important. People like to savour the deep story behind exceptional things, and Elyx Vodka is an exceptional drink which ultimately tastes better when this story is shared.
