Altos is a super-premium award-winning tequila made from 100% Agave, using traditional production methods. It is produced from the heart of Los Altos, at an altitude of 2,104 meters above sea level, in the western state of Jalisco, Mexico. Thanks to the environment and soil from which it is made, this premium tequila delivers citrus, fruity, and sweet notes.

Relatively new on the tequila world stage, Altos is made in part by using a 500-year-old traditional tahona volcanic wheel stone method to crush cooked agave. Created in 2009 by two world-famous bartenders Dré Masso and Henry Besant, and the Maestro Tequilero Jesús Hernández. Their goal was to create a premium tequila that is perfect for cocktails, but equally smooth and delicious when enjoyed neat. Using centuries-old techniques, the agaves are slow-cooked in brick ovens, distilled in copper pot stills and aged in former bourbon barrels to produce a classic tequila for the modern world. 

From its award-winning Plata Tequila to its most recent innovations, it has opened new horizons in terms of processes and quality – ready-to-serve, ready-to-drink margaritas and infused tequilas are now part of its product portfolio.

Two world-renowned bartenders walk into a distillery…

Henry Besant and Dré Masso had already made their names in the bartending industry, winning cocktail competitions every step of the way, when they arrived at Los Altos in Jalisco, México: Tequila country. It’s there that they met Jesús Hernández, Maestro Tequilero, who partnered with them to create a tequila not only made the ‘right’ way but also tailored to fulfil their bartending dreams: naturally smooth, high quality, accessible and with a flavour able to cut through complex cocktails with great taste.

    Altos was born by a partnership between Master Distiller Jesús Hernandez and bartenders, Dré Masso and the Henry Besant to create Altos Tequila – a tequila by bartenders, for bartenders.

    Tahona Society launches

    The Tahona Society, Altos’ bartender-exclusive community was born out of the founders’ dream of building a strong community that shared the passion for agave and good quality tequila.

    The Tahona Society Cocktail Competition was launched.

    Altos Añejo proudly joins siblings Altos Plata and Reposado.

    The Tahona Society launched The Collective Spirit Competition which looks for sustainable initiatives that can impact the bar in a positive way.
